The latest offering from Origin takes ideas from the others to make a stylish, functional piece of kit. It looks good, with its steel casing and feels well-finished. Satellite lock is excellent, and it has the same proven database as the Blue i. Additions to this include London Congestion Charge cameras and you can add your own locations to personalise it if you like. Also schools are an optional database, so if/when the government decides to reduce speed limits to 20 near schools you'll be fully prepared. Also, the unique Driver Information System displays distance covered, journey time and average speed, and if you get into trouble or break down it'll tell you exactly where you are so you can tell the emergency services.
In the car the b2's cabling is certainly different. The screen sits on a cradle, which has just one lead coming from it. This then splits into plugs for the other inputs - GPS antenna, laser sensor, and the option to plug in a Target LaserTrack 400 diffuser with a special link-up lead. The best way to fit it involves feeding the cables around the dash and under the foot-well mats. This gives a neat, discreet mount, with no actual wiring or permanent installation necessary.
This product is unique because you can add extras to it as you like, and it's the only thing available that will link directly with a diffuser. If you're looking to buy a GPS detector and a diffuser it makes sense to go for the b2 and LT400 package.
WHAT WE LIKE
- Stylish design is great for a neat installed solution
- Feature packed gadget
WHAT WE DON'T LIKE
- Not portable so without a second car kit it can only be set up in one car
