Road Angel Navigator 6000 - Our Review
Buy Road Angel Navigator Here

The Navigator 6000 is designed for people who want a camera detector for everyday use and occasional/weekend satellite navigation. Not that there is anything particularly wrong with the satellite navigation side. Its touch screen, postcode search, voice and visual directions and automatically re-routes if you take a wrong turn. It does not have some more of the advanced features you get on other systems, but then at this great value your not being asked to pay for them. The camera alerts work when your in navigation mode, so you get the best of both worlds

The camera detection side is great. Detection is probably the wrong word to use as its all database driven, but you get a full screen colour digital speedo which advises you of the speed limit at the fixed camera locations and the display lights up red when your over the limit.

The system is powered by a Li-Polymer battery given up to 8 hours battery use and charges of the 12v cigar lighter socket or mains, leads for both enclosed. The unit is fully portable with a suction windscreen mount and a vent mount is also available for a more discreet in-car setup.

WHAT WE LIKE

  • 2 in 1 product
  • Stylish & thoughtful design

WHAT WE DON'T LIKE
  • Map colours/contrast counld be better

The first thing that strikes you is the compactness of the unit and the quality feel and reassuring weightiness. The screen is clear and bright and displays 3 options, Nav, Media and Menu along with information on the battery and satellite state. Satellite lock is achieved quickly when stationary and if left in this state provides clear and concise safety camera warnings.

The satellite navigation option is easy to access via the NAV button on screen and gives an interesting ‘Google Earth' effect. Destination finding options are ‘by address' which includes full postcode entry, ‘by POI', which includes hotels, airports, fuel etc and ‘favourites', your personally created list of points of interest.

The menu system is not as intuitive as you would wish but with a little use of the manual you soon become used to it.
